Success Points

Stewardship campaigns vary in shape and size.  At the core of every campaign there are three key characteristics required for success.

Vision: A successful stewardship campaign hinges on a clear and consistent vision.   Launching a campaign reflects a significant moment in the life of a church.  It is essential to have an understanding of what the church hopes to become in five, 10 and even 20 years.  Once you have affirmed God’s vision for your church ministry, the next step is identifying the specific purpose for the campaign and the project.  Here, a picture can be worth a thousand words, explaining how the new facility will impact existing ministries and support the development of new ministries.  A visual representation of the new facility will take the thought and strategy behind the project and make it tangible for the entire congregation.

Balance: In every campaign, a balance of messaging must occur in order to achieve a spiritually and financially rewarding experience.  Implementing intentional prayer emphasis while teaching stewardship within sermons and study groups will have a lasting spiritual impact on your congregation, as church families determine God’s will for their financial commitment.

Commitment: When embarking on a campaign, a church is entering a long-term commitment.  The congregation and leadership must be on board with the project and committed to a typical three-year campaign period.  It is essential to take some time before moving forward with a project to discern the financial feasibility of the proposed concept.  Identify the costs associated and provide detailed funding information to the congregation.  Evaluate the time commitments and determine if hiring a campaign consultant is appropriate to help focus on leading and encouraging the campaign team throughout the entire process.  A campaign consultant is dedicated to your campaign and will invest the necessary time and energy into your campaign, allowing leadership to continue to focus on existing ministries.
